Mr. Corey Simons

I grew up in Franklin, North Carolina, and earned my BA in Middle School Education and Political Science from Mars Hill University.

With over 18 years in education—12 years as a middle school teacher and six in leadership—I am deeply committed to fostering academic excellence and innovation. As an Assistant Principal in Savannah, Georgia, I have led transformative initiatives, including launching a Dual Language Immersion program and guiding my school through the STEAM certification process. My strategic leadership has driven measurable student success, contributing to significant gains in Georgia’s CCRPI content mastery scores.

Previously, as a district Professional Learning Specialist, I played a key role in teacher induction and leadership development across 56 schools, implementing high-impact instructional models. Before transitioning into leadership, I spent nearly a decade as a middle school teacher in Gwinnett County Public Schools, where I was honored as Teacher of the Year and spearheaded initiatives in curriculum development, formative assessment, and technology integration.

Throughout my career, I have prioritized innovation, data-driven instruction, and professional growth to enhance student and educator success. I hold an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on arts integration. My credentials include a GA Tier 1 Leadership Certificate and an NC Principal License.

I am passionate about creating dynamic, collaborative, and forward-thinking learning environments that empower both students and educators.
